Michelle Turnbow, Executive Director at First Step of Wichita Falls, Inc. is no stranger to Domestic Violence. Consistent with the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence statistics that 1 in 3 women experience family violence, Michelle’s experience began as a child who was subjected to an unhealthy home life. Her true character prevailed, and she decided to make lemonade and turn that experience into a passion to serve others whenever she could intervene in the fight against violence.
For the past 20 years, and still going strong, Michelle has worked with children and adults who have experienced domestic violence and advocated for their safety, empowerment, and renewed lives. Michelle has advanced through every position available at agencies in other areas to the Executive Director of First Step. In this position, Michelle has shared her passion and leadership with clients, staff, and community partners to make a strategic impact with awareness, prevention, and provision of services.
Michelle has dedicated her adult life to learning about all the aspects of domestic violence and sexual assault and plans to continue with First Step, working with community leaders, and advocating for positive change.
