ELIGIBILITY, CLIENTS' RIGHTS & MINIMUM SERVICES

Eligibility

First Step provides services to any victim of domestic violence or sexual assault.

These services are available without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, income or ability to contribute.

 

Client Rights

As a First Step, Inc., client, you are entitled to the following rights:

ü The right to receive services regardless of your race, creed, sex, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, age, income, health or ability.

ü The right to make your own decisions regarding your future goals and plans.

ü The right to express opinions and complaints to staff.

ü The right to confidentiality.

ü The right to file grievances through proper channels.

 

Minimum Services

The minimum services provided to you by FSI include the following:

1.   24-hour hotline

2.   Emergency telephone counseling

3.   Temporary 24 hour a day shelter

4.   Crisis intervention and emotional support

5.   Food and clothing

6.   Emergency transportation

7.   Assistance in obtaining emergency medical care

8.   Referral to available legal services

9.   Liaison and advocacy with law enforcement

10. Employment and job training referral

11. Information and referral to community resources

12. Crisis counseling

13. Peer counseling

14. Orientation and services for children

15. Non-resident counseling
